2008 Commemorative Print Unveiled

The National Cherry Festival is pleased to showcase this year's Festival Commemorative Print - Submitted by D.B. Henkel born in Canton, Ohio. One of over 35 commemorative prints submitted, D.B.'s print features egg and milk based "paint", a timeless art process.

D.B. now lives in northern Michigan, and has been a professional artist since the age of eight. He won his first national drawing contest with a winning entry in the Scott's Fertilizer "Early Bird Drawing Contest". At the age of nine, D.B. was selected as the youngest artist to be included in the "Art Train", a traveling art gallery that canvassed the United States via rail. After finishing high school he furthered his education in art by attending Arizona State University and also the University of Wyoming. After moving to Hollywood, California he worked several years in the movie industry. After several years of working within the special effects design studios, he decided to leave the West Coast and move back to his roots where he would be working as a sculptor and easel artist. He has entered and won several local and national art shows and competitions throughout the years. D.B. has illustrated two books written by his father Donald G. Henkel, "A legend of Santa and his brother Fred", and his newest book "Painted Treasures".

The National Cherry Festival is seeking art submissions for the 2008 Festival! Artwork must be submitted to the National Cherry Festival by Monday, March 31, 2008.
